Chicago Soccer Widows Club

Chicago Soccer Widows Club

soccer has always been a huge part of my life. I’ve played. I’ve supported it. I’ve organized leagues. I’ve blogged about.  I’ve cried over it. i’ve done my best to run a supporters group. i’ve planned events around it.  i’ve made life lasting friendships through it.  next to the people near & dear to me- soccer is, quite honestly, the love of my life.

over the last few years of my life i have begun to become more and more acquainted with those involved with section 8 chicago.  i have had the pleasure of developing, what i hope will be, life-long friendships with amazing, kind, warm, unique, talented, caring, motivated people.  i am honored to call these individuals my friends.

these friends have developed into a constant in my life because of their passion for the beautiful game. their passion carries over in their day to day life and can be seen in the heart they have for their friends. because of these people i have aslo had the opportunity to spend the last year of my life with a soccer passionate beau at my side.

i have spent many moments with this rad group of people- sitting on a three-piece sectional together, watching matches, drinking beers (not me, i prefer vodka or wine!), analyzing games, proposing ideas on how to make supporters groups more effective, traveling across the country to away Fire games, writing blogs- the list goes on & on- believe me!

their never ending love for soccer inspires me. as individuals and as a team they will make a difference in the world of soccer, futball, football, footy…

(i think the passion i mention has sidetracked me momentarily from the point i originally wanted to make.)

with that said, some of the friends i speak of (including the bf) are in a supporters group referred to as WB05- whiskey brothers aught five (no girls allowed! hmph!).  soccer consumes their lives day in and day out.

because of their constant love for the game (otherwise referred to as- soccer overload - believe me, soccer consumes too much of their time & thoughts) one of the girlfriends of the group suggested, in a joking manner, that we (the girls) refer to ourselves as the soccer widows club.  i was originally not 100% in on this idea because soccer consumes my life just as much as it does the WB05 boys.  however, i was totally stoked to have a group of girls to hang out with at matches, bars, etc.

i thought it was be rad if we, CSWC09, started a little blog where we could post soccer photos, links, blogs, videos, or whatever together as a group.  so here we are!

i hope that someone out there enjoys our images, stories, love for soccer, and the incredible bond that footy has brought into our lives.
